Carried Away — 1Montoya

Carried Away is a short film where I was in charge of developing all Background Art.

Project includes Concept Development for environments, props and lighting, along with the film’s final Background Art.

I like to sketch in my notebooks and then scan my explorations to add some color in Photoshop.

I tried out different styles for the bathrooms, props and how the light in these environments would interact with the characters and the elements in it.

As the designs got more robust and clear I explored variants in Photoshop with different color palettes. Eventually we went with the pink for the city.

The city, we knew had to be lively and packed with people and also interact with our characters through light.
